The Third Forum of Manufacturing Paradigm III (FMP3-2025)
May 16th-18th, 2025 Chongqing, China
Scientists Forum of ISNM
On Sep. 24th, 2019, Tianjin University hosted the inaugural High-End Forum on Atomic and Close-to-atomic scale Manufacturing (ACSM) – China's first dedicated symposium on atomic-scale manufacturing technologies. On Dec. 2nd-5th, 2021, the China Association for Science and Technology organized the 1st Young Scientist Symposium on ACSM, marking the first national-level academic event targeting early-career researchers in this field. The 2nd Young Scientist Symposium was successfully convened at Southern University of Science and Technology from May 23th-24th, 2024.
The newly unified Frontier Forum on Manufacturing Paradigm III (formerly separate "High-End Forum" and "Young Scientist Symposium") represents strategic integration of academic resources. This consolidation establishes a systematic platform for cross-generational collaboration, formally initiating the Manufacturing Paradigm III Research Series to advance disruptive innovation across fundamental and applied research dimensions.

STEERING COMMITTEE
(Listed without order)
CHAIRMAN: Xiaokang Liu (Chongqing University of Technology)
MEMBERS:
In 2012, Prof. Fengzhou Fang, a Member of Royal Irish Academy (RIA), a Member of Academia Europaea (AE) and Past President of the International Academy for Production Engineering (CIRP), proposed the three paradigms for the evolution of manufacturing. He emphasized that Atomic and Close-to-Atomic Scale Manufacturing (ACSM) constitutes the core enabling technology of the new manufacturing paradigm -Manufacturing Paradigm III. This intrinsic progression in manufacturing development signifies the inevitability of the advent of the atomic-scale manufacturing era, driven by the fundamental demand for ultra-precision and functional determinism at the atomic level.

Launched in 2018 as the exclusive official journal of the International Society for Nanomanufacturing (ISNM), NMME operates under the principles of Diamond Open Access (no Article Processing Charges [APCs] for authors or readers) and is indexed in major databases including ESCI, EI Compendex, Scopus, and INSPEC. The journal is led by Editor-in-Chief Prof. Fengzhou Fang (President of CIRP) and Executive Editor Prof. Wei Gao (President of ISNM), who oversee its mission to highlight transformative innovations and applications aligned with Manufacturing Paradigm III—a framework advancing atomic-level precision and next-generation nanomanufacturing.
Nanomanufacturing and Metrology (NMME)
- Cost-Free Global Accessibility:
Publishes on SpringerLink under a Diamond Open Access model, eliminating financial barriers for both authors and readers.

- National Recognition:
Recipient of the "China’s International Impact Improvement Program for Scientific Journals" (Category D), a strategic initiative jointly administered by the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) and five other national ministries.

- Metrics and Rankings:
Anticipated to receive its first Journal Impact Factor (JIF) in June 2025, with an estimated value of 4.1, positioning NMME in Q1 (Instruments & Instrumentation) and Q2 (Engineering, Manufacturing) within the Journal Citation Reports (JCR) categories.
Current CiteScore 2024 (real-time data) stands at 6.3, reflecting its growing influence in interdisciplinary engineering and metrology research.
